During a 1985 recruitment ride-a-long, Trooper Mel McCottry shared his personal account of this shooting with me as a Cadet Trooper to emphasize the dangerous realities of a career in law enforcement.

Years later, I played McCottry’s part in this reenactment of that same incident.

I retired as Captain in 2014 with dozens of “real stories” of my own after a 29 year career of 100% commitment to fighting crime and preserving public safety. I intend to fulfill the duties of Ada County Sheriff with the same level of commitment.
